Terry commenced working in financial services in 1977 as a financial consultant with an investment broker in Birmingham. In 1979 he joined Legal & General and for the next 15 years was involved in various managerial roles including developing the training department within their financial consultancy division.
He left Legal & General in 1995 and worked with an IFA, Finmor Associates, an ex L&G colleague, and acquired his business in 1997 and with a partner developed the firm to a fee based practice in 2003, taking on a new adviser in 2004.
Terry is an associate of the Institute of Financial Planning and in 2003 qualified as a Certified Financial Planner, an internationally recognised qualification. He is also an associate of the Personal Finance Society, part of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and holds their Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.
In 2006 the practice was renamed Finmor Financial Planning, with Terry as the firm’s Principal, working with an adviser and paraplanner.
In June 2011 Finmor Financial Planning was acquired by Critchleys Financial Planning, as a result of Terry being introduced to Jason McGuigan at a financial planning conference in London. They both identified a high degree of synergy within their working practices and after many meetings and due diligence the acquisition was successfully completed.
Terry is married to Dorte, his Danish wife, and has two children from a previous marriage and four grandchildren.
His interests include travel, particularly to the Spanish interior and its wine regions, sailing, food and walking.
